What was reported

On May [XXX], 2025 at 4:17 PM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Los Angeles, California was in a collision involving an SUV on [XXX] at [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling northeastbound in the second lane from the right on [XXX] and came to a stop for a queue of traffic ahead of the Waymo AV, in front of a marked "Keep Clear" area. As the Waymo AV was stopped, an SUV traveling northwestbound on [XXX] proceeded forward into the area marked "Keep Clear" and stopped across the Waymo AV's lane of travel on [XXX], waiting for southwestbound traffic to clear before making a left turn onto [XXX]. The traffic ahead of the Waymo AV proceeded, and the Waymo AV attempted to maneuver around the front of the stationary SUV to proceed straight on [XXX]. As the Waymo AV passed in front of the SUV, the SUV proceeded forward and the passenger side of the Waymo AV made contact with the front driver side of the SUV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
