What was reported

On January [XXX], 2026 at 7:37 AM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Los Angeles, California was in a collision involving a passenger car on [XXX] near [XXX]. The Waymo AV was stopped facing southwestbound on a narrow portion of [XXXX], yielding to a passenger car stopped at the curb in front of and to the left of the Waymo AV. While the passenger car was stopped, the Waymo AV slowly proceeded forward and to the right. The passenger car proceeded forward along the curb and slowed to a stop, and the Waymo AV proceeded to pass the passenger car to the right. While the Waymo AV was passing the passenger car, a passenger in the passenger car opened the front right door, and the open front right door made contact with the front left side of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 1 of Standing General Order 2021-01 a vehicle involved was towed away.
