What was reported

On June [XXX], 2026 at 7:34 PM MT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Phoenix, Arizona was in a collision involving a carport in a parking lot at [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling eastbound, with its hazard lights activated in preparation for a passenger dropoff, in a parking lot at [XXX]. The Waymo AV maneuvered to the right and began to travel underneath a carport on the south side of the parking lot at a low rate of speed. As the Waymo AV proceeded forward, the sensor mounted on the roof of the Waymo AV made contact with a support beam on the underside of the carport. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV sustained damage. A passenger in the Waymo AV was not belted at the time of the collision as they were preparing to exit the vehicle. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
