What was reported
On January [XXX], 2023 at 5:36 PM PST a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (Waymo AV) operating in Phoenix, Arizona was in a collision involving a tow truck in a parking lot near [XXX] and [XXX]. While the Waymo AV stopped in a parking lot in autonomous mode, a tow truck approached from behind the Waymo and attempted to complete a multi-point turn. While performing a multi-point turn, the tow truck reversed into the rear left sensor of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AVs Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
