What was reported
On [XXX], 2023 at 09:42 AM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (Waymo AV) operating in Phoenix, Arizona was in a collision involving a heavy truck on [XXX], just west of [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling westbound on [XXX] when it came to a stop, yielding to a U-Haul box truck that was attempting to reverse into a parking lot to the right of the Waymo AV. The truck exited the lot and re-entered the oncoming eastbound lane, making contact with the left front end of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AVs Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
