What was reported
On October [XXX], 2023 at 5:42 PM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (Waymo AV) operating in San Francisco, California was in a collision involving a passenger car on [XXX] at [XXX]. The Waymo AV came to a stop in the rightmost travel lane heading south on [XXX] at [XXX], behind a van that was unloading passengers and cargo in the travel lane. As the Waymo AV was awaiting an opportunity to maneuver into the left lane to pass the van, the passenger car behind the Waymo AV maneuvered into the left lane to pass both vehicles. As the passenger car passed the Waymo AV, the drivers side of the passenger car made contact with the rear left corner of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AVs Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01.
