What was reported
On October [XXX], 2023 at 4:10 PM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (Waymo AV) operating in San Francisco, CA was in a collision involving a passenger car on [XXX] at [XXX]. As the Waymo AV was traveling northeast on [XXX] approaching the intersection with [XXX], it began passing a passenger car that was stopped on the other half of the roadway with its front partially in a perpendicular parking space and the rest of the vehicle perpendicular across part of the travel lane. While the Waymo AV was passing the passenger car, the passenger car initiated a reversing maneuver into the lane where the Waymo AV was passing, and the rear right corner of the passenger car made contact with the left side of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AVs Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The passenger car sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01.
