What was reported

On June [XXX], 2024 at 12:33 AM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in San Francisco, California was in a collision involving an SUV on [XXX] near [XXX]. The Waymo AV was stopped partially in a curbside parking space conducting a rider dropoff facing east on the south side of [XXX] when the passenger side of an SUV traveling east in the rightmost lane of [XXX] made contact with the driver side mirror of the Waymo AV. One of the passengers in the Waymo AV unbuckled their seatbelt shortly before the moment of impact, likely because the AV was at its dropoff location and the passenger was preparing to exit. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 1 of Standing General Order 2021-01 because a vehicle involved was towed away. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
