What was reported

On August [XXX], 2024 at 3:08 AM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in San Francisco, California was in a collision involving a passenger car on [XXX] at [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling north-westbound on [XXX] in the rightmost lane and entered the intersection with [XXX] on a green light. A passenger car traveling south-westbound on [XXX] at a speed well in excess of the posted speed limit entered the intersection without stopping at the red light, and the front of the passenger vehicle made contact with the front passenger side of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage. Waymo is reporting this crash under Request No. 1 of Standing General Order 2021-01 because an airbag in an involved vehicle deployed and a vehicle involved was towed away. Waymo may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available.
