What was reported
On November [XXX], 2024 at 9:37 PM PT, a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (Waymo AV) operating in Tempe, Arizona, was involved in a collision involving a passenger car at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX]. The Waymo AV was traveling north on [XXX] in left turn lane # 2, preparing to turn left onto westbound [XXX]. Upon completing the proper left turn through a protected left turn green light, a passenger car in left turn lane # 1, veered wide to the right when completing their left turn, and sideswiped the driver side door of the ADV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV sustained non-disabling damage to the driver side door, and the passenger car proceeded westbound on [XXX] and left the scene. The Waymo AV was towed for convenience.
