Report narrative
What was reported
On August [XXX], 2022 at 11:03 AM PST a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Tempe, Arizona was in a collision involving a passenger vehicle approached the Waymo AV from behind. The passenger vehicle then made a lane change into its adjacent right lane, and passed the Waymo AV. As it passed the Waymo AV, the passenger vehicle made a lane change back into the left adjacent lane, and its driver side rear quarter panel made contact with the Waymo AV's passenger side front quarter panel. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode, and a test driver was present (in the driver's seating position). Both vehicles sustained damage. Transdev Alternative Services is reporting this crash under Request No. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01.
