What was reported
On March [XXX], 2023 at 1:35 PM PST a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Tempe, Arizona was in a collision involving a passenger car on [XXX] and [XXX]. While attempting a right turn in autonomous mode from westbound [XXX] onto northbound [XXX], the Waymo AV was yielding to traffic approaching from the left. As the Waymo AV attempted to proceed, the test driver transitioned to manual mode and brought the Waymo AV to a stop. A passenger car behind the Waymo AV proceeded forward and made contact with the rear of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was not engaged and a test driver was operating the Waymo AV in manual mode. The Waymo AV and the passenger vehicle sustained damage. Transdev Alternative Services is reporting this crash under Request no. 2 of Standing General Order 2021-01. Transdev may supplement or correct its reporting with additional information as it may become available. This is a duplicate of 30270-5326-1.
