What was reported

A Zoox vehicle, operating in autonomous mode, was stopped in the westbound left-turn lane of [XXX], yielding to oncoming traffic to turn left onto [XXX] in Austin under a flashing yellow arrow. Eastbound traffic on [XXX] was backed up and slowing down. After receiving a hand gesture from the driver of a slowing SUV in the oncoming lane, the Zoox vehicle operator disengaged from autonomy and proceeded with the left turn. At that time, a pickup truck (Vehicle 2) traveling in the right lane of eastbound [XXX] quickly approached the intersection. Although the driver of Vehicle 2 attempted to steer left, the vehicle collided with the rear right area of the Zoox vehicle in the intersection. Vehicle 2's left side subsequently made contact with the front right corner of the oncoming SUV. Both the Zoox vehicle and Vehicle 2 sustained moderate damage, and the Zoox vehicle was towed. No injuries were reported, and police were notified but did not respond to the scene.
